Joel visited the Digital Footprints Lab and the University of Bristol in 2022 as an Alan Turing Institute Enrichment Student, whilst a PhD student at the University of Oxford’s Mathematical Institute and Institute for New Economic Thinking. He has broad interests in social data science, complexity economics, and agent-based modelling. Specific problems he has worked on to date include likelihood-free inference, representation learning for time-series, and using natural language processing to extract meaningful signals from social media data. He also has broad interests in the use of machine learning methods in computational social science.
