Poppy presents at the University of Oxford

Last week, Poppy gave a presentation about her PhD at the University of Oxford.

She spent the day with the Pain in Women research group which is led by Professor Katy Vincent, and part of the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health. The group specialises in gynaecological pain conditions such as dysmenorrhoea and endometriosis, and investigates the mechanisms involved with the long-term aim of optimising pain management and patient quality of life.

Poppy’s presentation outlined the potential use of shopping data for women’s health research, highlighting earlier research by Digital Footprints Lab on menstrual pain. She also shared plans for her PhD projects and findings from a paper she published last year on menstrual education. The presentation was followed by a Q&A and discussion about menstrual health and some of the associated societal challenges.

It was a great opportunity to meet other women’s health researchers, share and learn more about research in a clinical setting.
