On 22 September 2025, Cheng Cheng attended the CDT Student Industry Showcase at the Bristol Museum. The annual event is hosted by the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Cyber Security, which brings together students, supervisors, and over 25 industry and academic partners. It allows industry partners to meet all CDT students, explore individual PhD projects, and discuss current challenges in the field.
Cheng presented a poster outlining the plans for her PhD research, “Meaningful Consent in FemTech”. She highlighted that FemTech (Female Technology) applications collect very sensitive and intimate data, which causes major privacy concerns. Her research will investigate how sensitive health data is collected and shared, and how consent mechanisms can be redesigned to better support user understanding and choice.
Several participants shared insightful comments on how to connect the work more closely with real-world industry practices. The Showcase was a valuable opportunity to receive feedback, exchange ideas, and connect with colleagues from both academia and industry.
