On Thursday 26th October, our new PhD student Poppy attended the Faculty of Health Sciences PGR Symposium at Bristol Aerospace. Taking place besides the Concorde, the day began with a keynote lecture from Dr Kaitlin Wade on ‘How to Thrive in Your PhD’. This was followed by a series of flash presentations and posters from current postgraduate students covering topics ranging from cancer genetics to AI in diagnostics.
After lunch and a tour of the museum, the audience heard from academics across the globe about their research journeys, gaining insights into some of the possible career journeys available post-PhD. Following some longer postgraduate presentations, the day ended with a set of round table discussions on various research and school issues, and finally the announcement of the presentation winners.
