Al is a Research Software Engineer with the Jean Golding Institute for Data Science at the University of Bristol. He developed his computation and coding skills through a PhD in evolutionary genomics, and subsequently broadened his experience as a member of the Medical Research Council Integrative Epidemiology Unit. He offers broad software engineering expertise across four faculties (Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Physics and the Medical School) at the University of Bristol.
